The Warsaw Botanical Gardens were established in 1818, and run by the University of Warsaw. Last Sunday was the tulip festival, and the main colourful treats are tulips of course, and then daffodils, magnolias and grape hyacinths. I also find one of my photographic nemeses, unfurling ferns, and spend a lot of time on my knees trying to photograph the curl which I rarely manage successfully at home. However the stars of the flower cabaret are the pink tulips with their satiny sheen. They had the beauty that makes me gasp and mutter appreciation aloud.

I love the willow sculpture and the light shining through the yellow tulips is very pretty, but you ferns win, they are beautiful!

You nailed it with those unfurling fern fronds. But all are simply gorgeous. Do I spy leaves of lily-of- the valley in there, with promise of delights to come? Your pictures evoke my memories of Monet’s garden, though not in the riotous style of Giverny. The gardeners have done the people of Warsaw proud.

I now have a program that suggests when different delights are scheduled, such as the rose festival. I was ecstatic at my haul, especially since I couldn’t see my screen in the bright sun.

You have every right to feel ecstatic. What a lot of new treasures you are finding on this visit with enticing prospects of many more. I have the same problem with the sun on my screen, but hey, just tell myself have a go and I might strike it lucky. Cropping is also possible if one does not manage to align the picture properly because of guesswork. You did really well with those shiny pink tulips. I usually manage to achieve a white void on any flowers that are shiny, pinks and yellows especially, and am very disappointed.

I’m loving your recording of a European spring, watching it unfurl in front of me. I haven’t spied tulips yet here, but plenty of wildflowers blooming in the hedgerows 🙂 and all sorts of things coming up in the garden.

Stunning gallery. It reminds me of Floriade. Did you ever go there? You have captured those fern curls perfectly and this shows spring in all its glory.
